In the heart of New York City, the Hotel Chelsea stands, holding within its walls stories of artistic genius, passionate encounters, and mysterious events. The 1970s were particularly electric. The corridors hummed with rock 'n' roll, echoing the voices of Patti Smith, Sid Vicious, and other iconic figures of the era. It wasn't just a hotel; it was an epicenter of creativity and rebellion. But amid the vibrant parties and groundbreaking collaborations, darker tales unfolded. Whispers of scandalous affairs, untimely passings, and scents of Sandalwood, Leather, and Moroccan Jasmine fill the air.

Each candle comes with a QR code to scan to learn about the haunted history!

Haunted History

One of the most infamous spirits said to haunt the Hotel Chelsea is that of Nancy Spungen, the girlfriend of Sid Vicious. In 1978, Spungen was found dead in the couple's room, an apparent victim of a stabbing. Vicious was charged with her murder, but he died of a heroin overdose before the trial. Hotel guests and staff have reported seeing Spungen's ghost, often appearing distressed, in the hallways and even in the room where she died.

Another renowned spirit is that of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. A regular guest at the Hotel Chelsea, Thomas died of pneumonia in 1953 after a heavy drinking bout. It's said that his spirit never checked out, and reports suggest his ghost has been seen lingering near Room 206, where he stayed during his final visit.

Ingredients

All candles are made with 100% domestically-grown soy wax, fragrance oils, and organic cotton-core wicks. The fragrances we use are paraben-free, phthalate-free, and are never tested on animals.

How to use

Following Candle Care helps to ensure product quality + longevity. We highly recommend following each of the following steps:

Trim your candle's wick to 1/4" before each lighting or once your candle has cooled.

Never attempt to trim a burning candle.

Discard the snipped portion in the trash; never leave wick trimmings in your candle jar.

The wick should always remain centered and away from the sides of the vessel.

Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the jar during each burn to prevent tunneling.

Safety first - because candles contain a small flame, we encourage following these rules:

Never leave a candle burning unattended, near a draft, or in reach of children or pets.

Don't burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Stop burning your candle when only 1/4" of wax remains.

Do not pick up a burning candle or immediately after it's been blown out.

Protect the surface underneath the candle no matter the material.
